Happy Sacred Sunday! 🙏

As we rest in Week 3 of the Good Day Summer Series with the gentle engraving “Enjoy The Little Things,” today invites us to pause, breathe, and consider one of the most intimate ways God speaks to us — through the quiet, ordinary moments of our lives.

“When we learn to see God in the little things, we realize He has been with us in every moment.”

Sacred Sunday

Sacred Sunday: Finding God in the Little Things

In our pursuit of dramatic spiritual experiences, we sometimes forget that God is equally present — and often most tender — in the small and seemingly insignificant. A sunrise breaking over the horizon. The sound of rain on the roof. A child’s hand slipping into yours. The warmth of a cup of coffee. A kind word from a stranger. These are not distractions from “real” spirituality. They are invitations into it.

Reflection
The Bible consistently shows us that God reveals Himself in the everyday. Jesus taught using seeds, birds, lilies, bread, and fishing nets — the common things of life — to unveil profound kingdom truths. He didn’t wait for grand stages. He met people in the middle of their ordinary days and turned those moments into encounters with the divine.

James 1:17 reminds us, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” This verse carries a beautiful truth: the little things are not random. They are intentional expressions of a loving Father who delights in giving good gifts to His children. When we learn to notice them, we deepen our relationship with Him.

Psalm 118:24 declares, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Not just the big days. Not just the milestone days. This day — with all its small, ordinary moments — is the day the Lord has made. Rejoicing in it means choosing to see and savor what He has placed right in front of us.

Matthew 6:26-28 invites us to look at the birds of the air and the lilies of the field. Jesus points to these little things as evidence of God’s faithful care. If He cares for them, how much more will He care for us? The act of noticing becomes an act of trust.

Colossians 3:17 tells us, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” This verse expands our understanding of worship. It is not limited to a Sunday service or a quiet time. It can happen while watching a sunset, sharing a meal, taking a walk, or calling someone we love. Every thankful glance, every present moment, every small act of gratitude becomes worship.

When we string these verses together, a clear picture emerges: God is constantly pouring out good gifts in the little things, and our role is to slow down, notice them, rejoice in them, and give thanks. This is not superficial positivity. It is a profound spiritual practice that draws us closer to the heart of our unchanging Father.

The engraving “Enjoy The Little Things” serves as a daily reminder of this truth. It gently calls us out of distraction and into presence. It trains our eyes to see God’s goodness everywhere. It transforms ordinary days into sacred ground.

This is the journey we’re on together this summer — learning to live awake, grateful, and fully present to the God who is with us in every little thing.

Your Sacred Sunday Story
Take some unhurried time with the Lord today and reflect on these questions:

  • What little thing has God given me recently that I almost missed?
  • How can I become better at noticing and enjoying His daily gifts?
  • What would my relationship with God look like if I truly lived with eyes open to the little things?

Write freely. Pray honestly. Let this be a holy reset as we continue through the series.

Prayer or Reflection
Heavenly Father, thank You for this Sacred Sunday. Thank You for the little things that reveal Your constant love and care. Open our eyes to see You in the ordinary moments. Teach us to slow down, to be fully present, and to worship You in the small gifts as much as the big ones. May our lives become a continuous offering of gratitude and joy. Amen.

Commitment / Pledge
Today, on this Sacred Sunday, I commit to noticing and enjoying the little things. I will slow down, be present, and worship You in the everyday moments You give me.
