There’s something wonderful about Fridays — a sense of relief, anticipation, and the promise of a beautiful weekend ahead. As we continue our Prep Week for the Good Day Summer Series, today is the perfect time to talk about something that can make every day feel good: what we choose to hunger for.

Feel Good Friday: Hunger for a Good Day
This past weekend I heard a powerful sermon on the Beatitudes, specifically Matthew 5:6: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
Those words have been ringing in my heart all week. Because the truth is — we all hunger for something. The question is: Are we hungering for what actually fills us… or what leaves us emptier?
Reflection
Jesus made a bold and beautiful promise: those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled. Not occasionally. Not when life is going well. They will be filled.
But this promise comes with a sobering reality we must face honestly. There are three important principles about spiritual hunger that can completely change how we approach this summer:
First, what you are impulsively drawn to is rarely what actually fills you. So often we reach for quick fixes — endless scrolling, comparison, worry, overworking, or things we know deep down aren’t good for us. In the moment they feel satisfying, even comforting. But sin and worldly distractions have a way of hollowing us out. They promise life but slowly drain joy, peace, and purpose. The more we feed on them, the emptier we feel.
Second, nibbling will get you nowhere — you have to clean your plate. A verse here, a quick prayer there, showing up to church when it’s convenient — these are like nibbling at a meal. You might feel a little better temporarily, but you won’t be truly satisfied. Real spiritual fullness requires commitment. It means sitting down at the table with God daily and feasting on His Word until we’re full. No more half-hearted appetites. No more leaving the table still hungry.
Third, you cannot live off yesterday’s nutrition. Just like your body needs fresh food and water every single day, your soul needs fresh manna. You can’t survive this summer on last week’s quiet time, last month’s breakthrough, or last year’s good season. Every new day brings new challenges, new decisions, and new opportunities to either feed what fills you or what empties you.
This is why I’m so excited about the Good Day Summer Series. Starting next Wednesday, June 3, we begin weekly drops of powerful new engravings, apparel, hats, and a beautiful sticker series. These aren’t just nice accessories — they’re daily, visible reminders to hunger for what truly satisfies. They’re tools to help you “clean your plate” every single day and stop living off yesterday’s nutrition.
When you wake up each morning and choose to declare “It’s Gonna Be a Good Day,” you’re doing something powerful. You’re choosing righteousness over emptiness. You’re choosing to feed your soul with truth instead of distraction. You’re deciding that this summer will be different — filled instead of hollow.
How to Live a Filled Life This Summer
The sermon gave us five practical ways to live a truly filled life:
These five principles are going to be woven throughout every week of the Good Day Summer Series. Each engraving, each challenge, and each community moment is designed to support you in living them out.
This Prep Week is the perfect time to begin. Before the weekly rhythm starts, let’s examine our appetites. Let’s ask God to give us a fresh, holy hunger for Him. Let’s make room in our hearts by releasing what’s been weighing us down.
Imagine what this summer could look like if we entered it truly hungry for righteousness. Imagine waking up excited to spend time with God. Imagine days filled with peace instead of anxiety, joy instead of frustration, and purpose instead of aimlessness. That kind of life is available to us — if we’re willing to hunger for it.

Your Feel Good Friday Story
Take a gentle moment right now and ask yourself honestly:
“What have I been hungering for lately?”
Then ask: “What do I want to hunger for this summer?”
Write it down. Pray over it. Make a small decision today to starve one thing that’s starving you and feed more deeply on what fills you.
