Tuesday morning often feels like the real start of the week.
Monday was recovery.
Tuesday is decision.
And that’s exactly when God loves to interrupt our scattered thoughts with a clear call: “I have something for you to do.”We tend to think calling requires us to be ready — confident, polished, qualified.
Jesus’ pattern is the opposite.
He calls people who feel scattered, inadequate, or disqualified — then He sends them anyway.
Because the call isn’t about our strength; it’s about His presence.Jesus Himself modeled this.
He didn’t recruit the elite, the educated, or the powerful.
He called fishermen, tax collectors, zealots — people who were scattered in their own ways.
And He sent them with the same promise He gave Moses: “I will be with you” (Exodus 3:12) — echoed in His final words: “I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).This Transformation Tuesday we’re looking at three ordinary people who were scattered — and the moment God (through Jesus’ same pattern) said “sent.”
A Sermon: Moses at the Burning Bush — Called, Not Qualified
Exodus 3–4 Moses was 80 years old.
He’d been a prince in Egypt, then a fugitive murderer, then a shepherd in the wilderness for 40 years.
He was scattered — far from his people, far from his calling, far from any sense of purpose.
Then God showed up in a burning bush that didn’t burn up.
God spoke: “I have seen the misery of my people… So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt” (Exodus 3:7,10, NIV). Moses’ first response was honest — and familiar to most of us:
“Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” (Exodus 3:11, NIV).
He listed every reason he was the wrong person:
- I’m a nobody now.
- They won’t listen to me.
- I don’t speak well.
- Send someone else.
“I will be with you.”
Not “You’ll be enough.”
Not “You’ll figure it out.”
“I will be with you.” Moses still hesitated.
He asked for signs.
He asked for help.
He asked to be excused.
God gave him signs, gave him Aaron, and finally said: “Go.” Moses went.
And the rest is history.
A scattered shepherd became the deliverer of a nation.
A man who felt unqualified became the one God used to part seas and bring freedom.Jesus echoed this same pattern centuries later.
He didn’t call the qualified either.
He called Peter, James, John — fishermen who knew boats, not theology.
He called Matthew, a tax collector everyone hated.
He called Simon the Zealot, a political extremist.
And He sent them with the same promise: “I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20). The point isn’t that Moses or the disciples suddenly became confident.
The point is that God’s presence made the unqualified qualified.
Jesus didn’t say, “Go because you’re ready.”
He said, “Go — and I will be with you.”
So here are the honest questions only you can answer today:
It’s about trusting that the God who calls is the God who goes with you — just as Jesus promised His disciples.
- Where in your life do you feel scattered — too broken, too late, too small, too ordinary to be used?
- What “Who am I?” excuse have you been repeating that Jesus is answering with “I will be with you”?
- What one small “go” is God asking of you this week — a conversation, a kind act, a step toward a dream you’ve buried?
It’s about trusting that the God who calls is the God who goes with you — just as Jesus promised His disciples.
Moses didn’t feel ready.
The disciples didn’t feel ready.
Jesus didn’t wait for them to be ready.
He simply said, “Follow me” — and “I am with you.” That’s the invitation this Tuesday:
Stop waiting to feel qualified.
Start trusting that Jesus is already with you.
Say yes to the next small step.
And watch Him turn scattered into sent.
Christian Faith Points
- God’s call is not based on your qualifications — it’s based on His presence (Exodus 3:12 — “I will be with you”; Matthew 28:20 — “I am with you always”).
- Jesus calls the scattered and the unlikely so His power is on display (1 Corinthians 1:27 — “God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong”).
- Saying “yes” to God’s call is the beginning of transformation — not the end (Philippians 1:6 — “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion”).
- Marcus Reed – Texas Veteran Who Went from Isolation to Advocacy
Marcus, 45, came home from service carrying invisible wounds — PTSD, nightmares, guilt. He isolated himself in his apartment for nearly two years, barely speaking to his wife and kids. He felt like “damaged goods” and believed that was his permanent label.
One Sunday a sermon on Isaiah 43:18-19 (“Forget the former things… I am doing a new thing”) broke through. Marcus started small: showing up to a veteran coffee meetup once a week. He listened more than he spoke. Then he shared a little. Then he started leading.
Today he runs a weekly mental health workshop for 200 veterans — teaching journaling, breathing exercises, and faith-based resilience. His wife says she has her husband back. His kids say he’s present. Marcus says: “I thought my story ended in Afghanistan. God said no — it’s just getting started.” - Anjali Gupta – Mumbai Artist Who Painted Hope After Loss
Anjali, 32, lost her gallery and her confidence in 2024 when every piece she created felt hollow. She stopped painting, convinced she had nothing left to say. Habakkuk 2:3 became her lifeline: “The vision awaits its appointed time.”
She started small: sketching one small mural on a slum wall near her old studio. Kids gathered. She gave them paint. Soon 150 youth were helping — turning gray concrete into color and hope. The project grew into a community art collective. Grants came. Exhibitions followed. Anjali’s art now hangs in public spaces across Mumbai.
She says: “I thought my story was over when the gallery closed. God said no — it was just moving outdoors.” - Lerato Mbatha – Johannesburg Student Who Turned Pain into Purpose
Lerato, 20, endured relentless bullying in high school — name-calling, exclusion, threats. It crushed her confidence and made her dread going to class. Joshua 1:9 became her anchor: “Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God will be with you.”
She started small: sharing her story in a school assembly. She expected silence or mockery. Instead, students approached her afterward — some crying, some thanking her. That moment birthed an anti-bullying campaign. She organized empathy workshops, role-playing sessions, and safe-space circles. Bullying incidents dropped 25%. Five schools adopted her program.
Lerato says: “I thought my story was one of victimhood. God said no — it’s one of victory for others.”

Prayer or Reflection: Your Sent Heart
Find a quiet space. Breathe deeply (inhale 4, exhale 4). Reflect or pray, asking God to send you — even if you feel unqualified. Say, “I am not qualified — but I am called, and He is with me.” Rest for 7 minutes. Journal: What small “go” is God asking of me today?
