Mini Reflection: Fan Into Flame

The Apostle Paul wrote these powerful words to his young disciple Timothy while imprisoned:

“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you…” (2 Timothy 1:6)

Paul wasn’t speaking to someone who had no fire — he was speaking to someone whose fire had grown dim. Timothy was facing fear, opposition, and the heavy weight of leadership. In that moment, Paul didn’t tell him to wait for better circumstances. He didn’t tell him to wait until he felt stronger or more qualified. Instead, Paul gave him a clear instruction: fan into flame what God had already placed inside him.This is such a beautiful picture for us today.
