Feel Good Friday: Small Graces, Big Healing

Happy Feel Good Friday! We’re continuing our Grateful Hearts series with lighter hearts as we head into the final weekend before Mother’s Day. This week we’ve been exploring how gratitude brings transformation, healing, and strength.Today we’re celebrating something simple yet powerful: small graces, big healing.Feel Good Friday: Small Graces, Big HealingSome of the most profound healing doesn’t come from grand gestures or dramatic breakthroughs. It comes from small, everyday moments of gratitude that quietly shift our perspective and lighten our hearts. As Mother’s Day approaches, many of us are holding a mix of emotions — sweet memories, complicated feelings, gratitude for our moms, tenderness for our own children, grief for those no longer here, or appreciation for the chosen mothers who stepped in. In the middle of all that, it’s easy to focus only on what’s heavy. But what if the smallest thanks could spark big healing?A quiet “thank You” for the cup of coffee your mom used to make.
A gentle smile when you see a trait of your mother in your own child.
A deep breath of gratitude for the woman who wasn’t your biological mom but loved you like one.
A soft thankfulness for the chance to try again today as a parent.
A simple joy in the flowers blooming or the sun on your face — reminders that life keeps offering beauty even after loss.
These small graces add up. They don’t erase the pain, but they create space for joy to grow alongside it. They remind us that God is present in the ordinary, and that healing often arrives in tiny, beautiful increments.Psalm 118:24 invites us into this joyful posture:
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
This verse isn’t asking us to feel happy about every circumstance. It’s inviting us to rejoice in the day itself — the small gifts it holds — because it comes from the Lord’s hand. Gratitude for the small things trains our hearts to see God’s goodness even in imperfect stories.Supporting verses that highlight this truth:
  • Colossians 3:15-17 encourages us to “be thankful” as we let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts.
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:18 reminds us to give thanks in all circumstances.
  • Psalm 100:4 says to “enter his gates with thanksgiving” — even the small thanks open the door to His presence.
  • James 1:17 tells us “every good and perfect gift is from above” — including the tiniest daily graces.
When we celebrate small thanks in our mothering journeys — with our moms, our children, or the mother-figures in our lives — we experience big healing. Joy sneaks in. Hope rises. Hearts feel lighter. On this Feel Good Friday, let’s lean into the small things. Let gratitude for the little graces bring big healing as we prepare our hearts for Mother’s Day.Christian Faith Points
