Wellness Wednesday: Becoming Who I Was Born to Be

Wellness Wednesday: Becoming Who I Was Born to Be

Happy Wednesday Inspiration Co. family,
We continue Beauty After the Storm — our limited, one-day-only engraving series running every day through Easter. Each engraving is available for custom orders only on its listed date (a 24-hour window), then it’s gone forever from this collection. These pieces are designed to be worn or gifted as daily anchors—tactile reminders that God is still at work, bringing beauty and purpose out of every season, honoring the strength and depth that winter has already built in you.
Today’s exclusive engraving (available only March 18, 2026):
BECOMING WHO I WAS BORN TO BE
This engraving carries a powerful invitation. It gently reminds us that we are not meant to stay stuck, anxious, or diminished by past storms. We are in the process of becoming—becoming the person God created us to be from the very beginning. Not a carbon copy of someone else. Not a perfected version of who the world says we should be. But our truest, most whole self, shaped by His hands.
On this Wellness Wednesday we slow down and reflect on this sacred becoming. Body, mind, and spirit are all involved. God doesn’t just want to heal us—He wants to form us. He doesn’t just want to comfort us—He wants to transform us into people who carry His peace, His purpose, and His beauty into the world.
Whether you feel like you’re just beginning, in the messy middle, or starting to see the first signs of new life, today’s message is for you: You are becoming who you were born to be. And that process is holy, worthwhile, and deeply good.
Reflection: Becoming Who I Was Born to Be – The Sacred Work of Transformation
Ephesians 2:10 declares a beautiful truth: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” The word “handiwork” is the Greek poiema—the same root as our word “poem.” You are God’s poem. His masterpiece. His living work of art.
This verse tells us three important things:
  1. You are not a mistake. You are intentionally created by God.
  2. You are not finished. You are still being shaped—becoming.
  3. You have purpose. There are good works prepared in advance for the person you are becoming.
“Becoming who I was born to be” is the lifelong journey of aligning our lives with God’s original design. It’s the process of shedding what the world, trauma, fear, or past mistakes have told us we are, and stepping into the identity Christ has restored in us.
This becoming is holistic wellness at its deepest level:
Body: God cares about your physical well-being. He created you with a body that reflects His creativity. Healing, rest, movement, and nourishment are all part of becoming who you were born to be. When we honor our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), we participate in God’s forming work.
Mind: Transformation begins with the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). Many of us carry old stories—“I’m not enough,” “I’ll never change,” “I’m too broken.” Becoming who we were born to be requires replacing those lies with God’s truth. “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). “I am a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17). “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
Spirit: At the core, becoming who we were born to be is a spiritual journey. It’s learning to live from our identity as beloved children of God rather than striving for approval, significance, or control. It’s surrendering our plans so God can shape His purpose in us. It’s saying “yes” to the slow, sometimes uncomfortable work of the Holy Spirit forming Christ in us (Galatians 4:19).
This process is rarely fast or flashy. It often happens in the quiet seasons—the wilderness, the waiting, the ordinary days. That’s why today’s engraving is so powerful. It gives us permission to stop rushing, stop comparing, and trust the Master Artist who is patiently shaping us.
You are not behind.

You are not broken beyond repair.

You are becoming.
And the One who began this good work in you will be faithful to complete it (Philippians 1:6).
Thought-provoking questions to sit with today:
  • What old story or label am I still carrying that God wants to replace with His truth?
  • In what area of my life (body, mind, or spirit) do I feel the most resistance to becoming who God created me to be?
  • Where have I seen small signs of growth or healing that I may have overlooked?
  • If I truly believed I am God’s handiwork, how would I speak to myself this week?
  • What one small step can I take today toward becoming who I was born to be?
The beauty of this journey is that you don’t have to become perfect—you simply have to keep showing up and allowing God to do what only He can do. Every season, every struggle, every quiet surrender is part of the forming. You are becoming who you were born to be, and that is one of the most beautiful things in all of creation.
Christian Faith Points
  • We are God’s handiwork—His masterpiece—created with intention and purpose (Ephesians 2:10).
  • God is actively transforming us into the image of Christ (2 Corinthians 3:18; Romans 8:29).
  • True wellness flows from aligning our lives with God’s design for us (Romans 12:2).
  • Growth and becoming happen in every season, including the hard ones (James 1:2-4).
  • God finishes what He starts—our becoming is secure in His hands (Philippians 1:6).
Real-Life Stories: Echoes of Becoming
In a quiet neighborhood in Tennessee, USA, Leah—a 38-year-old librarian and mother—spent years trying to be the “perfect” version of herself. She pushed hard to meet everyone’s expectations until burnout and anxiety left her exhausted and disconnected from who she really was.
One day she received a simple bracelet engraved with BECOMING WHO I WAS BORN TO BE. Something shifted. She began to ask God, “Who did You create me to be—not who the world says I should be?”
She started small but meaningful changes: more honest prayer, saying no without guilt, taking walks in nature, and slowly releasing the pressure to perform. Over time she felt herself softening, breathing deeper, and reconnecting with gifts and dreams she had buried long ago.Leah says the most surprising part wasn’t the external changes—it was the peace that came from simply being herself in God’s hands. She now wears the engraving as a daily reminder and often shares it with others who feel lost in the pressure to become someone else. “I’m not trying to arrive anymore,” she says. “I’m becoming—and that’s enough.”
Your Wellness Wednesday Story
Take a few quiet moments. Read Ephesians 2:10 slowly. Ask yourself: In what ways have I been trying to become someone I was never meant to be? What might “becoming who I was born to be” look like in this season of my life? Journal one small step you can take this week toward that becoming. Pray: “Lord, shape me into who You created me to be. I trust Your hands.”
Practical Tools: Becoming Who You Were Born to Be
  • Identity declaration. Each morning speak Ephesians 2:10 over yourself: “I am God’s handiwork…”
  • Quiet listening. Spend 10 minutes in silence asking God, “Who are You shaping me to become?”
  • One small step. Choose one gentle action this week that aligns with the person God is forming in you (rest, creativity, honesty, kindness, etc.).
  • Release comparison. When you catch yourself comparing, pause and say: “I am becoming who I was born to be.”
  • Verse anchor. Wear today’s engraving or write the verse somewhere visible as a daily reminder.
Prayer or Reflection
Father, thank You that I am Your handiwork. Thank You that You are shaping me into who I was born to be. Forgive me for the times I have rushed, compared, or tried to become someone else. Help me trust Your timing and Your process. Shape my body, renew my mind, and fill my spirit with Your presence. I surrender to Your forming hands. Amen.
Commitment / Pledge
Today, I commit to trusting God’s process in my life. I will take one small step toward becoming who I was born to be and release the pressure to be anyone else. May this becoming deepen my faith and empower me to change the world one wrist at a time.
