Hey Inspiration Co. family,
The Beauty After the Storm engraving series has officially come to a close, and what a beautiful journey it has been. Over the past weeks, we’ve received thousands of stories from all over the world — stories from the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Stories of loss, redemption, resilience, and quiet miracles. Stories that prove God really does bring beauty after every storm. We can’t wait to keep sharing more of these powerful testimonies with you in the coming days. For today, we are honored to share the first featured story from our Inspiration Nation as we move into a new week. This is Greg Reynolds’ story, and it’s one that will touch your heart and motivate you deeply.
Today’s special engraving (available only today, April 6, 2026):
MY PAIN BUILT MY PURPOSE
Greg’s Story: “My Pain Built My Purpose”
“I lost my mom when I was 16 years old, and in many ways it felt like I lost my whole world with her. I was left feeling abandoned and alone, battling deep depression and eventually falling into addiction while trying to escape the pain. For a long time, it felt like the darkness would win.But somehow, through faith and perseverance, I found my way back. Today I’m a father, living on the other side of addiction, and I understand something I couldn’t see back then — the pain that almost destroyed me helped shape my purpose. It taught me how to love deeper, fight harder, and become the parent my child deserves.Thank you for this opportunity.”
Greg’s words carry the kind of hard-won wisdom that only comes from walking through the fire. At 16, he lost the person who probably meant the most to him in the world. The grief was overwhelming. The loneliness was crushing. Instead of finding healthy ways to process his pain, he turned to substances to numb it — a path that led him deeper into darkness. But God never stopped writing Greg’s story.
Through faith, community, perseverance, and the quiet but persistent love of God, Greg found his way back to the light. Today he is a loving father, free from addiction, and living with a clear sense of purpose. The very pain that once threatened to destroy him has now become the foundation for how he loves, how he leads, and how he shows up for his child.
His story is living proof of Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
The pain didn’t disappear. It didn’t magically become easy. But God, in His mercy, took what was meant for harm and began shaping it into something meaningful — a deeper capacity to love, a stronger fight in his spirit, and a purpose that now touches the next generation.
Reflection: My Pain Built My Purpose
Greg’s testimony reminds us of a powerful truth we’ve been learning throughout the Beauty After the Storm series: God never wastes our pain.
Many of us have walked through seasons that felt like they would break us forever. Loss. Betrayal. Addiction. Depression. Failure. Grief that felt too heavy to carry. In those moments, it’s easy to believe the lie that the pain is pointless, that we’ll never recover, that nothing good could possibly come from it.
But Greg’s story — and thousands of others we’ve received — tells a different story.Pain, when placed in the hands of a loving God, doesn’t have to be the end of us. It can become the very thing that builds us. It can deepen our compassion. It can sharpen our purpose. It can teach us how to love more fiercely, forgive more freely, and show up more fully for the people God has placed in our lives.
This is the beauty after the storm.
The engraving “My Pain Built My Purpose” is not about glorifying suffering. It’s about refusing to let suffering have the final word. It’s a declaration of faith that says: “What tried to destroy me is now being used by God to shape something meaningful in me.”
Whether your pain came through the loss of a loved one, a battle with addiction, a broken relationship, a health crisis, or any other storm — God sees it. He has not forgotten you in it. And He is fully able to take every tear, every dark night, and every shattered piece and weave them into a purpose that brings life — to you and to others.
On this Motivation Monday, as we step into a new week after the Beauty After the Storm series, let Greg’s story motivate and encourage you. Your pain is not pointless. Your story is not over. The same God who brought Greg through the darkness is walking with you right now, gently shaping beauty and purpose from what once felt impossible.
Your pain is building something.
Your pain is teaching something.
Your pain, surrendered to God, is becoming part of your purpose.
Your pain is teaching something.
Your pain, surrendered to God, is becoming part of your purpose.
This Monday, choose to believe that the hardships you’ve faced are not wasted. They are forging strength, empathy, wisdom, and a unique purpose that only you can walk out. Let today’s engraving remind you: My pain built my purpose. You are not defined by what happened to you — you are being shaped by how God is using it.
Christian Faith Points
- God works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).
- Our pain does not have the final word — God does (Genesis 50:20).
- What the enemy meant for harm, God can use for good and for His glory.
- True purpose is often forged in the fire of suffering and refined by God’s grace.
- When we surrender our pain to God, He transforms it into a testimony that can bring hope and help to others.
Take a quiet moment today. Think about a painful season you have walked through (or are still walking through). Ask God to show you one way He is using that pain to build something purposeful in you — greater compassion, deeper faith, stronger resilience, or a calling to help others. Write it down. Then speak today’s engraving over your story: “My pain built my purpose.” Thank Him for the beauty and strength He is bringing from your storm.
Practical Tools: Letting Pain Build Purpose
- Surrender moment. Write down one area of pain you’ve carried and pray: “Lord, use this for Your purpose in my life.”
- Purpose reflection. Ask yourself: “How has this pain changed the way I love, forgive, or show up for others?”
- Daily declaration. Speak today’s engraving: “My pain built my purpose” when difficult memories surface.
- Share your story. When you feel ready, share a piece of your journey with someone who needs encouragement — your story may be the hope they need.
- Engraving reminder. Wear or carry today’s engraving as a tangible reminder that God is still writing beauty and purpose from your pain.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Greg’s story and for every story You are redeeming in our Inspiration Nation. Thank You that no pain is wasted in Your hands. Take every hurt, every loss, every dark season we’ve walked through and shape it into purpose. Give us eyes to see the beauty and strength You are bringing from our storms. Help us trust that You are working all things for good. We declare today: our pain is building our purpose because You are faithful. Amen
